Double Eleven, known for their work on the Prison Architect series, has announced a new project called Blindfire. This multiplayer shooter game is set in complete darkness, adding a unique twist to the typical shooter gameplay. Players must rely on environmental cues and strategic thinking rather than just shooting skills to succeed in this game.
In Blindfire, players enter an illicit bloodsport run by the ultra-wealthy to compete for riches and glory. The game is designed for up to eight players, emphasizing team-based gameplay. The darkness adds a new level of challenge, requiring players to use a room-scanning Echo mechanic to locate opponents. However, firing a weapon reveals the attacker’s position due to the loud gun shot and muzzle flash.
As rounds progress, light elements are introduced gradually, forcing players into closer combat. The Bodycount mode challenges players to score the most points across five rounds, with bonus points awarded for skillful play. Players only have one life per round, adding to the intensity of the gameplay.
Blindfire currently features two weapons, the accurate Mantis pistol, and the rapid-fire Abolition shotgun. The focus of the game is on tactical elements, with victory depending on strategy and execution rather than just gear. The game is available for early access on Xbox Series X/S and PC, with a free trial option for those who want to try it out first.
Double Eleven’s previous project, Prison Architect 2, faced delays after parting ways with Paradox Interactive. Blindfire marks the studio’s first original IP, offering a fresh take on multiplayer shooter games. With its emphasis on darkness and strategic gameplay, Blindfire promises an exciting and challenging experience for players looking for something different in the shooter genre.
