Members of the KBW Ventures senior leadership team recently participated in a Startup Clinic organized by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund (MBRIF). The event, which took place on October 9, 2024, aimed to engage the audience through a dynamic discussion and question and answer session.

During the workshop held at the Dubai Future Foundation, Chief Communications Officer Fida Chaaban shed light on some of the key misconceptions that startups often have about communications. She emphasized the importance of striking a balance in communication efforts, highlighting that both overcommunication and under communication can have negative consequences. Chaaban also pointed out that ineffective communication can lead to missed opportunities and tangible costs, such as loss of sales.

On the other hand, Chief of Investments Ekta Tolani provided insights into how KBW Ventures evaluates potential portfolio companies using a comprehensive approach known as the “5P Framework.” Tolani shared real-life examples of companies that the venture capital firm has recently invested in, and discussed Prince Khaled’s investment strategy and track record of success in backing emerging technologies. She emphasized the significance of founders selecting team members and advisors thoughtfully, as well as thoroughly researching investors before pitching to them.

The MBRIF Startup Clinic was attended by current and past cohorts of the Fund, as well as entrepreneurs at Jumeirah Emirates Towers and those watching via livestream from outside the UAE. The clinic aimed to provide valuable guidance and insights to startups looking to scale their businesses and attract investment.

Overall, the event served as a platform for knowledge sharing and networking, enabling local entrepreneurs to learn from industry experts and refine their strategies for growth. Initiatives like the Startup Clinic play a crucial role in nurturing the startup ecosystem in the region and empowering innovative ventures to succeed in a competitive market.

In addition to the clinic, Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed recently expanded his commitment to climate technology by making two new investments. This further demonstrates the growing interest and support for sustainable and environmentally-friendly solutions within the entrepreneurial community, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
