Hong Kong startup Viwoods has introduced the AiPaper, a super-thin E Ink tablet that aims to enhance mobile productivity with the power of artificial intelligence. This 10-inch e-note tablet is designed to help users make the most out of ePaper productivity while on the go. With voice interaction capabilities and advanced AI features, the AiPaper offers a range of functions such as summarizing text, taking meeting minutes, correcting grammar, and more.

The AiPaper e-note is incredibly slim, measuring just 4.5 mm (0.17 in) thick and weighing a mere 370 g (13 oz). Despite its lightweight design, it packs a punch with the latest black/white E Ink technology known as Carta 1300. This technology boasts a faster response time for smoother page turns and less ghosting compared to its predecessors. The device’s screen resolution is 2,560 x 1,920 (300 ppi), providing users with a crisp and clear display. Additionally, the Mobius display is surrounded by thin bezels on three sides, while touch navigation buttons are located on the chin of the device.

One of the standout features of the AiPaper is its AI smarts. The onboard algorithmic assistant can analyze content, organize information, summarize text, refine content, generate articles, correct grammar, and even highlight important passages or phrases. The AI also offers voice interaction, enhanced AI Q&A, research and writing assistance, and the ability to take meeting minutes with a single click. Users can easily share meeting notes with team members via file transfer, and screen casting allows for seamless idea sharing on connected displays.

In addition to its AI capabilities, the AiPaper comes equipped with a variety of templates to streamline productivity tasks. Users can schedule tasks, create to-do lists, and convert handwritten notes to text with unmatched accuracy. The device includes a stylus pen with 4,096 pressure levels, a long-lasting tip, and an integrated eraser function for easy editing. Documents can be synchronized with other devices, with a security feature that automatically wipes them after 24 hours. Additional security measures include fingerprint scanning and password protection at both the lock screen and individual document levels.

Under the hood, the AiPaper is powered by octa-core processing capabilities supported by 4 GB of low-power RAM and 128 GB of storage. The device runs on Android 13, providing access to the Play Store for third-party app downloads. With a 4,100-mAh Li-ion battery, users can expect up to a week of use with 2 hours of daily usage or a month on standby. Wireless connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. However, notable omissions include a built-in screen light and external storage via SD media.

To bring the AiPaper to production, Viwoods has launched a Kickstarter campaign with pledges starting at US$489 for the 10-inch E Ink tablet. A smaller 8.2-inch Mini version is also available as part of the campaign. Shipping is estimated to begin in October, pending successful funding. The AiPaper aims to revolutionize reading and writing with its innovative features and sleek design, offering users a powerful tool for enhanced mobile productivity.
